Breath of Spring

파이프갤러리는 2022년 4월 29일(금)부터 5월 28일(토)까지 **<Breath of Spring>**을 개최한다.

빛의 감각과 자연의 균형을 주제로 하는 이번 전시는 오다교, 오희원, 홍순용 작가가 참여한다. 파이프갤러리는 2층과 3층을 전시 공간으로 사용하고 있으며, 2층에는 캔버스 위 독특한 안료를 통해 빛을 상징하거나 재현한 오다교, 오희원 작가의 회화가, 3층에는 자연의 균형과 율동을 화면에 담은 홍순용 작가의 회화가 전시된다. 자연 빛의 광학과 심리, 철학이 감각적이고 사색적으로 표현되어 시각적으로 충만하면서도 심오한 시간을 이끌 것으로 기대한다.

인류는 자연의 빛을 재현하고, 빛을 응용해 세상을 통찰하며 시간을 재창조했다. 미술은 빛을 연구하는 시각에 관한 학문이자 빛의 비물질성과 상징성을 통해 숭고함에 이르는 철학이기도 하다. 파이프갤러리 기획전 **<Breath of Spring>**은 빛에 관한 한 미술가의 지속적인 진중한 태도를 비춘다. 작품과 작품이 놓인 공간에 드리워진 광학적 순간을 감각적으로 연출하는 오희원(b.1986)은 광물에서 추출한 안료와 천연 재료인 흙을 섞어 빛의 찬란함을 촉각과 시각으로 묘사하는 오다교(b.1991), 내면의 평온과 안식을 위한 매개체로서 태양빛과 자연물 형상을 단순화해 패턴화된 패널 위에 안착시키는 홍순용(b.1988)을 통해서이다. 이들 3인 작가는 자연의 주제와 인공의 미디엄을 이중적 양분과 배합해 여기에 흐르는 회화의 방향과 유속을 조절하고 생장시키는 데 일조하고 있다.

**<Breath of Spring>**은 회화가 자신의 전통적 관심과 중심 언어를 유지하는 한편으로 주변과 결합해 새로 탐색한 오늘날의 위치를 확인하고자 한다. 또, 동굴의 어둠을 뚫고 내비친 빛처럼 창작의 근원이자 응결의 동력이 되는 세계의 의미를 찾으려 한다. 여기, 재현과 관념, 순간과 영원의 스펙트럼을 방출하는 계절의 유동이 흐른다.

Pipe Gallery is holding <Breath of Spring> from Friday, April 29, 2022, to Saturday, May 28.

This exhibition, themed around the sense of light and the balance of nature, features artists Dakyo Oh, Heewon Oh, and Soonyong Hong. Pipe Gallery uses the 2nd and 3rd floors as exhibition spaces. On the 2nd floor, paintings by Dakyo Oh (b.1991) and Heewon Oh (b.1986), who symbolize and reproduce light through unique pigments on canvas, are displayed. On the 3rd floor, paintings by Soonyong Hong (b.1988), who captures the balance and rhythm of nature on canvas, are exhibited. The exhibition is expected to lead to a time that is visually rich yet profound, with the optics, psychology, and philosophy of natural light expressed in a sensory and contemplative manner.

Humanity has reproduced natural light, applied it to gain insight into the world, and recreated time. Art is a field of visual study that explores light and a philosophy that leads to the sublime through the immateriality and symbolism of light. Pipe Gallery's special exhibition <Breath of Spring> reflects the continuous and sincere attitude of these three artists toward light. Heewon Oh (b.1986) sensuously presents optical moments cast in the space where the works are placed, while Dakyo Oh (b.1991) tactually and visually describes the splendor of light by mixing pigments extracted from minerals with natural soil. Lastly, Soonyong Hong (b.1988) places simplified shapes of sunlight and natural objects onto patterned panels as a medium for inner peace and solace. These three artists contribute to controlling the direction and flow rate of painting that flows here by doubly polarizing and combining the theme of nature with the medium of artificiality.

<Breath of Spring> seeks to affirm the modern-day position of painting, newly explored by merging with its surroundings while maintaining its traditional concerns and central language. It also seeks to find the meaning of a world that is the source of creation and the momentum for condensation, like the light that penetrates the darkness of a cave. Here, flows the fluidity of the season, emitting the spectrum of representation and concept, moment and eternity.
